Why BlueDog?
Traditional Bluetooth trackers regularly rotate their addresses. In a crowded city that makes long-term surveillance tricky – but out on forest trails or quiet beaches the only devices you should see are the ones you packed. BlueDog leans into that reality and gives you a fast, wrist-first view of the trackers attached to your dog’s collar.
- Phone-free walks: start a scan directly on your watch and glance at the dial to confirm your dog’s tracker is still nearby.
- Instant awareness: Shows last time BT devices were detected and the signal strength encoded as easy to decipher color coded slices.
- Custom alerts: turn on the global chime and vibration so you can tell when your dog is nearby without looking at the screen.
How It Works
- Attach a Bluetooth tag (AirTag, Tile, Chipolo, etc.) to your dog’s collar.
- Launch BlueDog Tracker on your Wear OS watch and tap Start Scan.
- As devices are discovered they appear on the circular dial. The colour intensity mirrors signal strength.
- Tap a slice to open the device overlay and block noisy strangers if the dial feels crowded.
Interface Highlights
- Live Scanner Dial: only active devices are shown; closer trackers glow brighter.
- Device Overlay: Click on a BT address slice to see signal strength, last seen time, and a quick action to block distractions.
- Global Alerts: enable chime and/or vibration so every new device discovery gets your attention.
- Block List: hide persistent non-dog devices (smart watches, earbuds) from the dial.
Quick Start Checklist
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on the watch and grant scan/connect/location permissions.
- Use the Settings screen to tweak vibration duration, chime, and other settings.
- Block any background devices (earbuds, fitness trackers) so the dial stays focused on your pup.
Tips & Limitations
- Bluetooth address rotation means BlueDog shines in low-noise environments. In busy downtown areas the results will churn constantly.
- AirTags hide their identifiers, but they still broadcast presence – BlueDog shows the active tag even though it does not pair to the AirTag.
- The dial always reflects what’s around you right now, keeping the interface simple and free of stale data.
